How to connect Slingbox With AT&T’s Uverse Gateway

By

If you are new to Uverse’s service, you may have questions on connecting some of your equipment. The Slingbox is very easy to set up. You can easily connect remotely to the 2Wire Gateway. The Uverse system works with bandwidth connecting to the RG and split from that box to your TV’s and PC’s.

First you must access the RG’s, (Residential Gateway) software by putting in the url address bar http://192.168.1.254 or Gateway.2wire.net.

Once you have the 2Wire page up, By the way. You might have to have the 2wires pass code, or system password that is on the RG, on the barcode. Once you are on the 2wire page, you want to click Firewall on the tab at the top of the page. Once there you will be in the Firewall summary. You can now click the lock to edit the firewall settings. You will see a box with a list of various programs. At the bottom of that box, click on the Add a new user-defined application link.

Next, you are at the edit application page. In the Application Name field, type Slingbox. Next, in the Protocol section you will select the radio to select TCP. In the Port (or Range) box you will enter 5001 in the beginning, and end box.

To verify the information, in the Step#1; Choose “My SlingBox”.  Step#2; Click on the Allow individual application(s) radio button.  Next YOU’RE DONE!  So click the done button.

I am new to this site so I had problems uploading my pictures to go with this article. Will learn more, and hopefully produce a much better arranged hub on my next attempt. Thanks for your Patience.

This sounds like a seamless integration. Has anyone else had success using Slingbox with the Uverse Cisco DVR? I would like to know before I purchase a SB...costly but worth the price if the two systems work together.
